Conjunctions
· Conjunctions are used to link words, phrases or sentences.
· And links parallel words or sentences.
e.g. They have buns for breakfast. They have eggs for breakfast.
, They have buns and eggs for breakfast.
· Or links sentences where choices are given.
e.g. Do you want coffee?
Do you want tea?
, Do you want coffee or tea?
· But links contrasting sentences.
e.g. My grandmother can sysle. My grandmother cannot swim.
, My grandmother can cycle but she cannot swim.
· because shows reason for an action or situation.
e.g. The man lives in a hut. The man is poor.
, The man lives in a hut because he is poor.
· So shows the result of a cause.
e.g. I was thirsty. I drank two glasses of water.
